Team Milwaukee Stuns Three-Time Defending Champs Most Wanted to Claim 2024 Boricua Open Championship

The 2024 Boricua Open Championships will be remembered as much for the thrilling competition as for the challenges posed by Mother Nature. Despite the obstacles, the tournament was a resounding success, with Team Milwaukee rising above the storm—literally and figuratively—to dethrone the three-time defending champions, Most Wanted, and claim the 2024 Boricua Open Men’s Division title.

The tournament, held in Puerto Rico, started with high hopes on Saturday, but Mother Nature had her own plans. Due to heavy rain, only two games were completed before the weather forced a halt in play. As players and fans hoped for better conditions, the original venue, Perucho Stadium in Cataño, was flooded Sunday morning, rendering it unplayable.

Scrambling to keep the tournament alive, organizers quickly secured a new venue. The tournament was moved to Levittown, Puerto Rico, where the games could continue under drier conditions. The swift coordination allowed the championship to proceed, and the athletes responded with incredible performances.

Team Milwaukee, who had been knocking on the door for years, finally got their moment of glory. In a hard-fought final, they faced off against the three-time champions, Most Wanted, who had dominated the Boricua Open for years. But this time, Team Milwaukee was determined to write their own chapter in Boricua Open history.

In a tightly contested battle, Team Milwaukee delivered when it mattered most, taking down the defending champs in what can only be described as an epic final showdown. Their victory was a testament not only to their skill and determination but also to their ability to remain focused amid adversity.

ISPS Commissioner Manuel T. Ferrero III expressed his admiration for the teams and the resilience shown throughout the weekend: “This year’s Boricua Open was a testament to the strength of our softball community. Despite Mother Nature throwing curveballs our way, we adapted, moved venues, and saw an amazing level of competition. I want to congratulate Team Milwaukee on their incredible performance and give a special shout-out to Most Wanted, who, as always, were fantastic competitors. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our sponsors, the players, and the fans who stayed with us through all the challenges.”

The road to the championship was far from smooth, but Team Milwaukee’s perseverance paid off, and they leave Puerto Rico as the new champions of the Men’s Division at the 2024 Boricua Open.
